Sinopsis :A series of murders prompts Mike Hanlon to suspect that the supernatural menace that he and a group of friends battled as children has returned. He begins to call his friends to remind them of the oath they swore: if It returned again, they would come back to Derry to do battle again.

This is one of the best Stephen King adaptations for the small screen. Director Tommy Lee Wallace does a great job, especially in the first half of the movie, of holding viewers attention and getting them to care about characters who are believable and sympathetic. The screenplay, adapted by Lawrence D. Cohen, is also quite good. The child actors are the best thing about this film, especially Seth Green and Jonathan Brandis, and their stunning performances put the adult actors, mostly former TV sitcom stars with dying careers, to shame. Also commendable is Tim Curry, who excels at playing over-the-top villains, as Pennywise the Clown.
The first half builds up the plot well, moves at a good pace, and is very frightening. The second half, however, is disappointing, with a sudden drop in quality and a slow pace with the adult actors improvising, either joking or bickering with each other. All this degenerates into a ridiculous ending, especially the monster form taken by It in the final battle. Still, this movie is worth a watch, a must-see for any Stephen King or discerning horror movie fans. It will make you steer clear away from drain holes and sewers!

Now I have seen plenty of movies based on King's book, but this one may be the best of all. I've narrowed it down to this and The Shining. I feel sorry for the little kids who saw this movie, one being myself, but it sill doesn't fail to give me an awkward feeling towards clowns.
The first half was by far the better half, giving me chills as we are introduced to Georgie, "floating" now with Pennywise. Tim Curry nailed the role perfectly. My favorite part is when poor Eddie is in the shower and we see the real teeth of the clown.. The wolf part wasn't that great, but nothing scared me out more than the picture when the clown reaches out to grab all of them after the big rock war. All 10 stars on this one.
